Gaming has been a big part of my life. I have played TTRPGs for well over two decades and much of that time spent behind the screen running games. I have enjoyed many different systems, across many genres, with many people. Over those years I have made every mistake in the book, both in front of and behind the screen. I’ve run and played in amazing and memorable games, and I’ve been part of train wrecks (some of which I had fault in). I’ve done my best to learn from any mistakes and pick up new tricks to help grow not only my experience but to deliver better gaming experiences to those around the table.
Running game is complex. You have to balance knowledge of rules, lore, and the expectations of players around you. What’s worse is any of those can change at any time. I have learned that it is a collaborative effort between everyone at the table to create both fun and memorable games. Below I hope to share some of my experiences concerning philosophy, tools, and tricks that I have gained to aide anyone interested in growing in the hobby.
